Thressia Jones Harrold

Born August 29, 1909 in Armington to Walter E. and Maude F. (Nisewander) Brown, she married Carl J. Jones on October 14, 1938 in University City, Missouri. He died October 3, 1968 in Peoria. She then married Ross Harrold on January 1, 1985 in Creve Coeur. He died December 23, 1999 in Peoria. Also preceding in death was one brother, Everett Brown.

Surviving is one son, Richard C. Jones of Creve Coeur.

A retired elementary school teacher, Thressia taught 4 years in Armington, 7 years in East Peoria, and 26 years in Creve Coeur.

She once said, "My hope is that I helped at least one child find happiness and success."

A member of Creve Coeur Christian Church, she was involved with the "Helping Hands" group.

She was a member of Tazewell County Home Extension and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and tatting. She had knitted over 50 lap blankets for nursing home residents.

Thressia enjoyed playing pinochle and traveling throughout the world.

Her funeralwill be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2006at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel. The Rev. John E. Plunkett will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 19, 2006at the funeral home. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
