

He was born November 24, 1947 in Ulvah, Kentucky to Arnold and Cannie (Wooton) Fields. He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Benjamen Hood and Ryan Fields and one sister, Debbie Lewis.
Surviving are three daughters, Jennifer (Sarah Powell-Fields) Fields of Pekin, Amanda (Sardius) Dickerson of Peoria and Staci Fields of Peoria; eight grandchildren, Ethan, Darien, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Lillian, Taylor, Adrien and Jacob; two great-grandchildren, Ruby and Xavier; one brother, Charles (Mary) Fields of Hanna City; three nieces and nephews, Wendi Fields, Toni (Alvin) Fields-Orozco and Andrew Fields; his ex-wife, Judith Fields and his best-friend of over 50 years, Antonio Sousa.
Ty is a Veteran of the United States Army. Ty met Sousa while serving his country and the two have been friends throughout every milestone in their lives, including marriage, children, divorce and the death of their parents. They visited each other, took trips together and spoke on the phone on a regular basis. The two shared a love of photography. Theirs was the truest, greatest, most sincere friendship any person could ask for.
He worked for Caterpillar Inc. for over 42 years as a pipefitter before retiring. He was a diehard union man and a member of the United Auto Workers. He was on strike in the 80s and 90s and laid off for a period of time before retiring in 2011.
Ty enjoyed history, collecting antiques and reading. He spent his time landscaping and improving his neighborhood. He was incredibly charitable and kind, he would give the shirt back to anyone in need. He loved helping others and dedicated his life to taking care of his family and community. He will be greatly missed by his daughters who fondly remember anytime they left he would simply say, “be good girl”.
He was a devout Christian and lived his life according to the teachings of Jesus Christ our Lord.
His funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2024 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Cotton Wood Cemetery in Rural Hanna City.
