V. Marie Seitz

PEKIN ~ V. Marie Seitz, 88, of 108 North Pine Street, Bryant, passed away at 1:40 p.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at Graham Hospital in Canton. She was formerly of Pekin. Born October 14, 1921 in Canton to Charles and Emma (Grigsby) Ashton, she married R. Lloyd Seitz on November 21, 1938 in Keokuk, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband on December 9, 1974; two sons, Robert L. Seitz and William L. Seitz; one daughter, Jannetta Horn; two brothers; and one sister. Surviving are six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and her beloved cat, Suzy. Marie worked as a receptionist in the medical office of Drs. Nelson Wright, Jr. and Nelson Wright, III in Pekin for 10 years, retiring in 1983. Previously, she had been the receptionist for Drs. Werner, Wherry, and Helden in Pekin. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Pekin. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2009 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Mark Miller will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
