Born September 10, 1954 in Mt. Vernon to Robert and Dorothy (Bruno) Doan, she married Roger Cox on November 23, 1984 in Pekin. He died December 31, 2009 in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Phillip Doan.
Surviving are her mother; one daughter, Vanessa (Mitch Richards) Cox of Pekin; one son, Spencer (Ashley Cunningham) Cox of Davenport, IA and one sister, Claire (Mark) Zimmerman of Frisco, TX.
Valerie was a secretary for Elmore Financial Group in Pekin.
She loved to shop and sew.
Her visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. There will be no funeral. Cremation will be accorded.
