

She was born Jun. 21, 1926 in Little Rock, Ark. to Earl and Opal Hindman) Blair.
She moved with her family to Illinois in 1937 and settled in Pekin in 1945. She married Minor “Pete” Monroe on Dec. 10, 1960 in Springfield.
Surviving are her husband; 3 daughters, Marlene(Steven) Ammar of Oklahoma City, Sharon (Hal) Earp and Barbara VanAuken, both of Peoria; 1 step-daughter,Kathy (Bob) Durr of Henderson, Nev.; 1 son, Terry (Ethel) VanAuken of Varna; 2 step-sons, Charles “Randy” (Diane) Monroe and Rex Allen Monroe, both of Peoria , 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; and 2 sisters, Marlene (Dan Henkel) Blair of Brooksville,Fla. and Shirley (Bob) Galleger of Peoria.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 grandson; and 1 sister.
Venice worked in market research for 24 years, retiring in 1991. Previously, she had worked at Sunset Lanes and American Distilling Company, both in Pekin and had been a part time tax preparer. She was a member of the Pekin Women of the Moose Chapter 673.
A private visitation and funeral will be held at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes and Crematory in Pekin. Private Burial will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery in rural Mapleton.
