

Born December 10, 1950 in St. Louis, MO to Victor and Emily (Atkison) Wood, he married Barbara Perry on December 4, 1972 in Petersburg, MI.
Surviving are his mother of Pekin; eight daughters, Billie (Frank) Sawafta of Forsyth, Angela (Brad) Adams of Hanna City, Christina Wood of Peoria, Linda Wood of Edelstein, Elizabeth (Stuart) Bundy of East Peoria, Michelle Wood of Peoria, Emily Wood of Pekin, Tanisha Wood of Queen City, AZ; two sons, Tailer Stewart and Victor “Beau” Wood, both of Pekin; fifteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Tom Wood of Peoria, George Wood of Kewanee; four sisters, Judy (Leroy) Taylor of Pekin, Paula (David) Pierce of Bloomington, Rhonda Naas of Creve Coeur and Cathy Espinoza of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his father; one grandson and one granddaughter.
Bill was a member of the Greater Pekin First United Pentecostal Church.
He served in the United States Army in Vietnam.
Bill had worked for the Boilermaker’s Local #60 in Morton for 37 years, retiring in 2008.
A loving father and grandfather, Bill enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, music, singing and playing the guitar. He also enjoyed going to the gun range.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Military rites will be accorded by the United States Army and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
