

Born September 22, 1949 in Sterling to Frank and Hazel M. (Blackburn) Gutierrez, Sr., he married Carol A. Gettings on December 28, 1981 in Scottsdale, Arizona. She died November 1, 2011. He also was preceded in death by his father, Frank Gutierrez, Sr.
Vince is survived by two sons, Nathan V. Gutierrez and Ryne O. Gutierrez, both of Creve Coeur; his mother, Hazel M. Gutierrez of Scottsdale, Arizona; his mother-in-law, Margaret Gettings; loving companion, Patsy Sherman; four sisters, Judith K. Gutierrez, Mrs. Gayle (Chery) Lamie, both of Peoria, Mrs. John (Olivia) Tallarico and Dessel J. (Robert Dixon) Gutierrez, both of Scottsdale, Arizona; two brothers, Frank Gutierrez, Jr. of Pekin and Alex R. Gutierrez of Peoria; and many nieces and nephews. Vince loved his Schnauzers Gretchen, Heidi and Missy.
After graduating from Richwoods High School, Vince entered the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves. He later attended and graduated Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. Vince was employed by Fleming & Potter as a pressman for more than 30 years. He was an active member of the Eagles Club where he enjoyed participating in sports and the camaraderie of his friends.
Vince was active in a variety of sports, especially softball, bowling and golf. He was a member of the Greater Peoria USBC Bowling Association.
Always there in time of need, Vince's family and friends will remember him as a kind-hearted, compassionate man with an endearing sense of humor.
His memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Father Paul Langevin will officiate. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service.
