

Born September 14, 1924 in Boswell, Oklahoma to Alonzo and Eva (Phillips) Colwell, she married Ray Pearson Freeman in March of 1945 in San Diego, California. He died December 3, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Wayne Colwell and Wilmon Colwell; and three sisters, Maureen Steele, Evelyn McMillian, and Catherine “Cat” Sharum.
Surviving are one son, Richard (Linda) Freeman of Pekin; two grandchildren, Jason (Kara) Freeman of Monticello and Sarah (Jason) Breymeier of West Peoria; three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kellen, and Elise; one brother, Jarl (Maxine) Colwell of Bakersfield, California; and one sister, Dixie Wheeler of Boswell, Oklahoma.
Gail worked as a waitress at many Pekin and Peoria area restaurants including Pekin Country Club, Chateau on the Lake in North Pekin, and Quality Inn in Peoria. She retired in 1987.
Gail’s family meant the world to her and she loved them unconditionally. She enjoyed reading, camping, and outdoor activities.
Her graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2015 at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. There will be no visitation.
