How fortunate the Colwell Family is for Gail to have been in our lives . She was strong , loving ,funny ,always up for whatever life brought her way . Growing up we kids couldn't wait for summer so the ritual "Homecoming" of the Aunts and Uncles would begin .I especially was so excited when Uncle Ray and Aunt Gail were "coming in" .The house was cleaned , groceries bought , anticipation built ,then finally "Gail's Here !" I am the daughter of of Gail's youngest sibling Dixie "Colwell" Wheeler

I will miss you aunt Gail. Whenever I think of you, my mom or any of your other brothers and sisters I remember you all coming home for the Boswell Homecomings and how exciting it was and how happy Mammy and Daddy were that you were home. Dark Summer nights in the yard under the big oak with cigarettes glowing in the dark lighting up faces, everyone drinking tea and telling us kids to quiet down and behave. Magic times.

I was so sadden to hear about your mother in laws  passing. Prayers to your family. 

i am a Great Grand Son of James D. Colwell, your distant cousin.  Although I have never met you I am looking forward to meeting you in the greatest family reunion of all.  My prayer is for God to to be with, and bless our, precious family.

Gail was my aunt. Her sister, Catherine (Cat)Colwell Sharum, was my mother. She was a kind and loving aunt to me, and a connection to my mother and my childhood. I will miss her terribly.   

I want to say that I am sorry that we only met a few times in life.  But I was always proud that my mother named me after you. You had a good life and so many loved you. You will never be forgotten.
My mother Mary Evelyn your sister always loved her brothers and sisters, that told me that you had the best moral compass and great parents that raised all of you kids in the era. I only remember bits and pieces of the old places in Boswell except as an adult Daddys bar the only one in town, you were all blessed to of had mammy and daddy and look at the beautiful legacy you each have left.

I grew up next door to Gail and Ray, on Lincoln Street. My dad, Roy, worked the Rock Island RR with Ray. I think I even have a couple of pictures. I send sincere condolences to the family. I remember she was a very nice lady. God be with you all.

I am Joanne Bird and my father was the son of George Presley Colwell (Caldwell).  My prayers are for the family as they go through this difficult time.  My love to you - we are family.
