

She was born August 10, 1944 in Alton to John Fredy and Mary Ruth (Hughes) Mackelden.
Surviving are one son, Terry (Joyce) Hazelman of Manito; one daughter, Robin (Jim) Arnold of Brimfield; one grandson, Cody Arnold of Brimfield; two nephews, Tony (Teresa) Raker of East Peoria; and Sean Raker of Pekin; three nieces, Mary Loesche of Chicago, Ann Probasco and Tina Raker, both of Pekin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Robert Mackelden; one sister, Janean Raker; and one nephew, Robert “Bob” Raker.
Virginia was a chef for 32 years at Sunset Country Club, and retired from Pekin Country Club after 10 years as a chef.
She enjoyed traveling and being outdoors, especially in the sun.Virginia also loved watching her grandson play football.
A gathering celebrating Virginia’s life will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Pekin Country Club. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
