Don Zimmerman and I were part of the East End kids who lived two blocks apart whose front yards was the Pekin Park.  Don, his brother Noel, my brother Gene Ziebold, and myself enjoyed many happy hours together growing up.  It is sad that one comes to be aware he is the only one left of the old gang.  Lois and I became acqainted with Virginia on the stage of the auditorium of the old West Campus.  Although we are of the Class of 1937 and Virginia was with the Class of 1938 we debuted our entertainment career together at old PCHS.  Our memories of Don and Virginia are all pleasant ones and we cherish their memory and thankful to have known them.

My father was Robert Arnold from Pekin Il. My dad and Virginia were cousins. I took my dad to the nursing home shortly after Don died to see Ginny as he called her. He was determined to see her.My dad was in failing health and died on Dec. 3rd. From what I understand my dad's mother Anna and Virginia's dad were brother and sisters.Dad had four sisters,Kathleen,Virginia,Lois,and Rosemary.
All have pass away except Rosemary.

   We would like to extend our sympathies. We hope the knowledge that Virginia & Don lived a long, good life is some comfort. 
    In 1969 or 1970, we were in a parking lot in Rapid City, ND. In those days, you had to have your name and address on the side of your pick-up truck. Your dad approached us when he saw "Pekin" on our truck. We visited & all of us had the feeling we had met before.
     It turned out they were planning to visit almost the same attractions as us. The next day, at Devil's Tower in Wyoming, we ran into one another again and visited some more. That evening, 30 miles down the road, in a town that had many restaurants & motels, we ran into them in a restaurant & learned we were staying in the same motel!! It was beginning to get almost spooky.
    We still had the feeling we had met before. This time I asked if Don was related to Noel Zimmerman. Imagine our surprise when he said, he's my brother. Imagine their surprise when I told them Betty Piro Zimmerman is my cousin. We had probably met once or twice over the years at a funeral visitation. 
    Over the years, we visited many times with Don & Virginia and always enjoyed the visits, usually telling one another about the last vacation we had taken. 
    The big exception to those happy vacation talks were the talks we had when your sister was injured, & her illness, and later her death. 
     We always considered your parents as a couple of the nicest people we knew.
