

Born October 28, 1937 in Peoria to Clarence A. and Mildred V. (Rabel) Hickman, Sr., he married Sara J. McCurdy on April 16, 1960 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are five daughters, Teresa L. (Harry) Hernandez of Port St. Lucie, FL, Karen S. (John) Milano of Washington, Laurie A. (Tom) Wright, Mikki G. Elam, both of Pekin and Cheryl F. (Chad) Landry of Tremont; sixteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clarence A. (Mary) Hickman of East Peoria and A. George (Joan) Hickman of Peoria and one sister, Delores Kimzey of Phelan, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Bernadine Duits.
Warren worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 33 years, retiring in 1997 as a laborer at the Morton Parts Facility. He first worked in the foundry at East Peoria and then at the Mapleton foundry before transferring to Morton. Warren started his working career at age 16 with Western Union. He was a retired member of UAW Local 974.
Warren enjoyed motorcycles, many years of fishing with his children and grandchildren, and gardening. He especially loved roses. He liked camping a lot when he was younger. Warren had a special name for everybody.
He was a lifelong member of Ann Street Bible Church in Peoria, where he was a longtime usher.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Don Burleson will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Private entombment will be in American Mausoleum in Peoria.
