Born January 13, 1947 in Pekin to John M. and Loraine Lorie (Merritt) Avery, he married Launni Jo Ford on March 18, 1983 in Olympia, Washington. She survives.
Surviving are his wife, Launni Avery of Florence, Colorado; father, John Avery of Pekin; four Sons, Matthew (Tammie) Avery and Mark (Amy) Avery, both of Mackinaw, Bryce (Julia) Ford of San Diego, California, and John Michael Avery of Florissant, Colorado; one Daughter, Bryn Marie Hartman of Denver, Colorado; seven grandchildren, Luke Avery, Will Avery, Mikaela Avery, Noah Avery, Holden Hartman, Kennedy Ford, and Jack Ford; two sisters, Sharon (Dr. David) Danner of Pekin and Dr. Cindy (Randy) Kohtz of Tremont; and several nieces and nephews.
His mother preceded him in death on April 24, 2006.
He was a 1966 graduate of Pekin Community High School.
A United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he served from September 6, 1966 to August 21, 1969.
Bill was in the funeral industry for 31 years, eventually owning his own company, Rocky Mountain Providers.
Bill loved the Lord and he cherished his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family watching movies.
His visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Private graveside services will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, where military rites will be accorded by the United States Army.
