Born October 7, 1942 on the family farm in Delavan to Harry Wilson and Blanche Marie (Whitman) Burrell, he married Cheryl Yvonne Landi Vittori on September 22, 1963 at Second Reformed Church in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Desiree Lynn (Denis Rutledge) Burrell of El Paso; one son, Bradley Allen (Julie) Burrell of Pekin; six grandchildren, Creighton (Jennifer) Burrell of Chatham, Nicole Harrison of Pekin, Cassandra (Alex Brenizer) Colson of Washington, Cody (Lindsay Patterson) Sidell of Pekin, Michelle (Kevin Gilleran) Rodcay of Morton and Danielle (Michael) Cabriales of Pawnee; ten great-grandchildren and one sister, Mary (George) Lambert of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and one sister.
Ed retired after many years as a fire fighter and driver with the Pekin Fire Department. He then was the developer and former owner of Corky’s Run of Luck Farms, a hunting and recreational farm in Peoria County. Ed was also a longtime breeder and trainer of hunting dogs. His favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing and coin collecting. He also loved to teach his family and grandkids how to hunt. He will always be remembered for being there for his kids and family, especially as a coach in earlier years. Ed was a 23-year Mason.
He was a was a former member of Second Reformed Church in Pekin.
His celebration of life memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Mark Utech will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Pekin Fire Department will provide honors on Wednesday at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded.
