

Born April 28, 1937 in Peoria to Fred R. and Alice N. Nance Curtis, he married Lavada Loretta Mangold on August 13, 1965 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Billy Curtis of Keedysville, Maryland and Terry L. (Lauri) Curtis of Ashley; three step-daughters, Henrietta (Richard) Stanley and Loretta (Jerry) Maddox, both of Creve Coeur and Sandra K. (Jimmy) McDowell of Vermont, Illinois; two step-sons, David Lee (Janice) Miller of Pontiac and Kenneth (Joanne) Miller of Peoria; twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Kate (Glenn) Woodrum of Oakley, Vicky (Richard) Stoneburner of East Peoria, and Cindy (Kenny) Jackson of Centralia; and three brothers, John (Jeannie) Cox of East Peoria, and Jim Cox and Gary (Cindy) Cox, both of the state of Tennessee.He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and one sister.
William was a truck driver for over 50 years, last working on October 3, 2006.
He was a former member of the Trucking Owner/Operators Association in Missouri.
William loved stock car races and his canine driving companion, Brandi.
His funeralwill be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 9, 2006at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel, where visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Scott Estes, his nephew, will officiate.Burial will be in Fon du Lac Cemetery in East Peoria.
