

Born November 18, 1928 in Beardstown to Orvil and Emma (Beard) Surratt, he married Mildred Lutz on April 7, 1951 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Deborah “Deb” (John) Giffhorn of Pekin; one granddaughter, Pamela (Rodney) Pichon of Pekin; one grandson, Chad Surratt of Bloomington; and four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Connor, Madalyn and Nora Pichon, all of Pekin.
Preceding him in death are one son, Bill Surratt; one daughter-in-law, Pam. He was also preceded by one infant daughter, Pamela; one infant son, Robert and one infant grandson, Brennan.
He had served in the United States Army.
Bill had worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 25 years as a welder and forman, retiring in 1978.
He was a member at First Baptist Church in Pekin.
Bill enjoyed spending time on his computer, fishing, camping and woodworking.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Mike McLeod and Pastor Chris Garrett will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
