Alan Bruce Williams went to be with his Savior on September 1, 2022 at the age of 72. Al was born in DeFuniak Springs, FL on February 26, 1950. He was a 1968 graduate of Walton High School and then attended Auburn University where he graduated with a civil engineering degree in 1974. After graduation he moved to Birmingham to begin his work career at Southern Company Services before transferring to Alabama Power Company where he worked until his retirement in 2014.
Al was a faithful member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church where he had served on the usher team, was active in men's Bible studies and also participated in YBL ministry until he became ill.
Al was deeply loved and will be missed by his family. Although we grieve his absence we do not grieve as those who have no hope. Al had trusted in Jesus Christ for his salvation and we have been blessed with the assurance that he is rejoicing in the presence of his Savior in Heaven and that gives us great comfort.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa: his children, Jennifer Rush (Jody) and Stuart Williams (Haley): his precious granddaughters, Katherine and Emily Williams; his sister Regina McGinnis ( Allen): his brother-in-law, Andy Steele (Sue); 3 nieces and a nephew.
With gratitude we wish to acknowledge his team of oncologists at UAB. Many thanks to Doctors: Nabell, Chadha, Marcrom, and Holder. Also, AL's team of infusion nurses at UAB Acton Road clinic. He was blessed to have each one of you.
We want to thank Al's many wonderful, life-long friends from DeFuniak, his former co-workers at Alabama Power, his Briarwood church family, and our sweet neighbors. He felt so loved and encouraged by every kind gesture- calls, texts, cards, food, and flowers but most of all your prayers on his behalf. May God richly bless you.
The family respectfully requests no flowers or food.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at Briarwood Presbyterian Church. Visitation with the family will be after the service.
Philippians 1:21 For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain.
