He and Peggy married in 1952 and moved to Bethany Beach, DE in 1955 to open their own business. After 4 years, they sold their business when he started his career with Bell Telephone Laboratories as an Electrical Engineer in New York and then New Jersey. In 1967 he accepted a transfer with South Central Bell to Birmingham, AL where he finished out his career of 40 years with BellSouth.
Lon was the cornerstone of his family and always emphasized the importance of putting family first. He was a great storyteller and generous to those in need. While his two favorite hobbies were Auburn football and woodworking, his greatest passion was his love of God and learning Scripture at a deeper level. He was an active member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church for over 50 years where he served faithfully.
