Visitation will be at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., followed by A Celebration of Andrew's Life at 3 p.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124. Rev. Jim Alexander will officiate.
Andrew was born in Brownfield, Texas, on February 26, 1977, to Toni Holland and Jon David Gage. He grew up in Birmingham and graduated from Hoover High School in 1995.
After high school, Andrew enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served in the Persian Gulf War. His military service was an important part of his life and will forever be a part of his story.
In 2012, Andrew married Rhiannon, and together they shared more than 20 years, building a life of memories that belonged only to them. In May 2026, they celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary. Through more than two decades together, they grew up together, changed together, laughed together, navigated life together, and built the family that Andrew treasured above everything else.
Together, Andrew and Rhiannon had their greatest source of pride and joy: their son, Grey. If there was one thing that could make Andrew stop whatever he was doing, it was soccer, especially when Grey was on the field.
Andrew had been a soccer player himself for both the Vestavia Gunners and Berry/Hoover High School. Soccer was woven into who he was, and he never seemed to tire of talking about the game he loved. But nothing compared to watching his son play.
Andrew was Grey’s biggest fan. He loved being on the sidelines, watching every game, and seeing Grey grow, not only as a soccer player, but as a person. He was incredibly proud of his son and looked forward to seeing where soccer, and life, would take him. There was perhaps no greater joy for Andrew than watching Grey do something he loved.
Andrew’s love of sports extended well beyond soccer. He was a die-hard Auburn Tigers football fan, loyal through every questionable coaching decision. He also loved waking up early to watch the English Premier League, especially his beloved Tottenham Hotspurs. Auburn and Tottenham had something in common: Both teams routinely stressed Andrew out, and yet he remained fiercely loyal to both.
Andrew leaves behind more than memories. He leaves behind pieces of himself in the people he loved. He leaves behind a wife who spent more than two decades beside him and who will carry their life together forward. He leaves behind a son who will forever know just how fiercely his dad believed in him, cheered for him, and loved him.
Andrew also leaves behind family and friends who will remember his stories, his humor, and the unmistakable way he was simply Andrew.
He leaves behind soccer memories, Auburn Saturdays, early Premier League mornings, and all the ordinary moments that never seemed important at the time, but will now mean everything. There will be so many things we will miss about Andrew - the sound of his laugh, his stories, his sense of humor, his love of sports, and all the little things that made him who he was. Most of all, we will miss simply having him here.
Andrew is survived by his wife, Rhiannon; his son, Grey; his parents, Toni (Bob) Holland and Jon David Gage; his brothers, Jon (Kristin) Gage, Ian (Deborah) Gage, and Sean Holland; and his grandmother, Ellie Hillis. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Vince Gage, Ginger Gage, Gene Hill, Melvin Clark, Donna Clark, Bobbie Holland, and Woodrow Holland; and his aunt, Rhonda Adamson.
Andrew will be deeply missed and forever loved by the family and friends who were fortunate enough to share this life with him.
