Annette G. Caterinicchia

Annette Graffo Caterinicchia died peacefully in her sleep on January 9, 2021.

Annette was born to Thomas Joseph Graffo and Frances Romano on March 15, 1929 in Birmingham, Alabama. She attended St. Paul School until John Carroll High School opened its doors for the 1947-48 school year. Annette was John Carroll's first head cheerleader and always remained a proud member of its first graduating class.

Annette married Frank Caterinicchia on August 30, 1950 at St. Paul's Cathedral in Birmingham. She and Frank adopted two daughters, Kay and Valerie.

In 1979 Annette pursued a career in real estate and sold homes in the Birmingham market as Annette Cater for over 25 years. She was awarded membership in the Million Dollar Club on several occasions. She retired in 2006.

Annette is survived by her daughters, Kay Caterinicchia and Valerie Caterinicchia; her grandchildren, Carmen Lackey, John Dean (Stephanie), and Ashley Gustin (James); great-grandchildren, Emily Ashworth, Edie Gustin, and Whit Gustin; great-great-grandson, Ashton Ashworth; her brother, Tom Graffo; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding Annette in death are her spouse, Frank Caterinicchia, and her siblings, Kathryn Reese, Joe Graffo, and Bernadine Rollo.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 10 a.m. at St. Mark The Evangelist Catholic Church at 7340 Cahaba Valley Road, Birmingham, AL 35242, with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124.
