

Annie Maude "Maudie" Freeman, 98, of Birmingham, AL, went to be with the Lord on November 6, 2025. She was born on July 13, 1927 to William Andrew Owens and Hattie Maude Boyd Owens. After growing up in Chilton County and graduating from Verbena High School, she married on May 2, 1948. She worked for Bell South and Newberry, and after having their only child, she provided childcare in their home for many years. She was known for her cooking, sewing and Southern hospitality.
As a minister's wife, she faithfully served beside her husband in ministry and continued serving after his death. Her faith was evident in her selfless giving and willingness to help others in any way possible. Everywhere she went, her beautiful smile and kind heart left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Edgar H. Freeman, Jr.; sister, Elva Jean Owens; two brothers, William Woodrow Owens and James Bennie Owens. She is survived by an only daughter, Gwen Cork (Evan); two granddaughters, Daphne Neill (Patrick) and Britney Herrera (Isaac); a brother, Paul Owens (Joan), and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 10th, from 2-3 pm, followed by a memorial service in the chapel at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, AL. A private burial will be at Forest Crest Cemetery.
