

Austin “Doc” Tyler Key, 17 of Indian Springs, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2018. Austin was a senior at Oak Mountain High School. He was an avid lover of animals, water sports, roller coasters and gaming. He was a cherished son, grandson, brother, nephew and cousin. Austin enjoyed a close knit group of awesome friends, including special family friends, the Websters (Sydney, Grayson and Jacob) and the Harrisons (Ben and Sam).
Austin is preceded in death by his uncle, Rick Appling; grandparents, Jerry N. and Loretta K. Appling; great grandfather, Heber W. Foster; great grandmother, Margie Key; and by his “Papa Dave,” Dave Boozer. He is survived by his parents, Tina and Foster Key; brothers, Trent and Nick Key; grandparents, Douglas Key (Deborah) and Patricia Boozer; aunts, Kristi Key, April Pituch (Steve), Mary Yessick (Eddie) and Carol Appling; uncles, David Wilkinson, Frankie Love (Susan) and Leon Love (Kim); great grandmother, Frances Foster; great grandparents, Frank and Carolyn Love; great aunt, Lindy Tidwell (Johnny); and cousins, Natalia, Alex and Theo Pituch, Emmett, Presley and Maddox Wilkinson, as well as Lauren Appling, Richard Appling, Marjorie Eiland, Jane Alexander and Keyla Tidwell. Also left to cherish his memory are a host of other family members, loved ones and friends.
Austin made the generous decision to be an organ donor. The family takes comfort in knowing that he will live on in the lives of others.
The funeral service for Austin will be at 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local animal shelter, Autism Speaks, or any suicide prevention organization.
