Barbara Jeannette Johnson Leberte (91), of Hoover, AL, left this world on June 14, 2024 to the arms of our Lord. She was a lifelong Birmingham resident, a devout Catholic and charter member of St. Peter the Apostle Church in Hoover, Alabama. Despite her long-standing dementia, Barbara had a loving smile to those in her midst and loved to give heartwarming kisses. She will be sorely missed.
Barbara was born on July 13, 1932. After attending Auburn University as an Art Major, she met the love of her life, Joe V. Leberte and married him before he left for duty in Morocco with the United States Air Force.
Four children filled their home and with them memories of “Claire de Lune” she played on the piano, bridge parties with friends, and dancing the Jitterbug with Dad. She became an accomplished Legal Secretary and formed her own business “Legal Secretarial Services” which provided temp employees to law firms in the Birmingham area.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Norman R. Johnson and Pearl Dunaway Kelley, her husband, Joe V Leberte, whom she was married for 69 years, her son, Joseph V. Leberte, and grandson, Grant Alexander Denson.
