Barbara June Sims passed away Sunday, November 4, 2018 at the age 82. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Cecil E. Sims, and her daughter, Terri Sims Williams (Mike), and granddaughter, Laura Kathryn Ashley (Michael).
Born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, she was a lifelong Alabama Fan. Dedicated to service to her community, Barbara participated as past president of the Hoover Art Association, 1991, and founding member of the Hoover Arts Alliance, past president of Hoover Service Club, 1998, receiving the Flora May Pike Community Service Award, the Beautification Board of Hoover, and the Hoover Belles Committee. Her involvement extended as Aldridge Gardens Charter Member and founding member of the Board of Directors, serving as Secretary and President from 1998 - 2004 and her artistic talents in fabric art led to membership in The National League of American Pen Women, Alabama, Birmingham Branch.
She was a wonderful cook, dedicated wife, supportive mother and special Nana to her granddaughter. And she will be missed deeply by those who loved her. “I love you Momma”- Gene.
Services will be held at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Chapel on Thursday, November 8 with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm, with the service at 2:00 pm, and the burial to follow at Southern Heritage Cemetery.
