"While we are deeply saddened, we rejoice that Beth's trial [with brain cancer] is over for her," said Melissa Bell, the principal at Evangel Classical Christian School (ECCS) in Alabaster, AL. "She was unwavering in her faith throughout this trial, and she is now pain free, praising her Lord in glory. In our grief, we yet rejoice with her as we live in the hope of resurrection through Jesus Christ."
Beth was in her 10th year of teaching at ECCS, where she was Head of the Literature Department, Director of Writing Across the Curriculum, and Director of the Formal Rhetoric program. She taught many composition, literature, and rhetoric classes during her tenure at ECCS.
"We are so thankful for Mrs. Mitchell's exemplary leadership, her steadfast love for her colleagues and students, her wise discernment, and her passion for impacting her students and the culture with the beautiful truth of the Lord," Melissa Bell said. "We are grateful for her life, her witness, and her enduring legacy."
Before coming to ECCS, Beth earned her Master Degree at the University of Montevallo, AL and served as an adjunct teacher there. Her undergraduate degree in English is from Mississippi College.
Beth was an active member of Hunter Street Baptist Church in Hoover, AL, where she was a teacher for Mission Friends, toddlers and preschool Sunday school, and adult Sunday school. Her favorite pastimes included reading, gardening, and traveling outside the United States.
