

Mrs. Hoffman was born December 9, 1931 in Louisville, KY. She was a resident of Birmingham, AL for 64 years. She spent 40 years working in the medical community until her retirement in 2009.
Mrs. Hoffman loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her favorite hobby was working any kind of puzzle, crossword, jigsaw, and others. She spent many hours playing "Words with Friends," and in doing so, made many friends across the country.
Mrs. Hoffman was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Lee Hoffman; parents, Sharlotte Catherine Waddle and Percy Thomas Waddle; and two brothers, Harry Waddle and Jack Waddle.
Survivors include Mrs. Hoffman's sister, Nancy Waddle Panter of Louisville, KY; children, Janet Hoffman Grill (Rodney), Susan Hoffman Klyce (Pete), Jerome Lee Hoffman, Jr. (Dawn), and Judith Hoffman Simpson (Ford); grandchildren, Lisa Canfield Donalson (KD), Lindsay Klyce Handey (Jonathan), Philip Hoffman Klyce (Maggie), Caroline Simpson Poellnitz (Withers), Holly Simpson Sims (Ryan), and Justin Lee Hoffman; and great-grandchildren, Katherine Janet Skinner, Anna Reece Handey, Jonathan Dow Handey Jr., Robert Withers Poellnitz IV, and Presley Cassandra Klyce.
The family would like to acknowledge and give special thanks to the following people: Dr. Katherine Romp, UAB; Jo Dent, special caregiver; employees of Affinity Hospice; and special friends at Town Village Retirement Community.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, AL. A private burial will precede the service.
