

Betty Spear, age 91, of Alabaster, AL passed away on Thursday evening, October 26, 2017. The Fort Worth, TX native had been an Alabaster resident for over 15 years and a member of First Baptist Church of Pelham, AL.
Betty assisted her late husband, the Rev. T. Clyde Spear, with pastoral ministry for 50 years in Oklahoma, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. She often served as church secretary, taught Sunday school for many years, and volunteered with the Woman's Missionary Union (WMU) in Florida.
In addition to her husband, Betty was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Hattie Uhls; sisters and brothers-in-law, Loretta and Harold Martin, and Ida Mae and Clifton Laine; and brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Virginia Uhls.
Survivors include Betty's daughter, Pat MacKay; one son, Tom Spear (Debi); four grandchildren, Cameron MacKay (Kelley), Pam Drummonds (Brandon), Tommy MacKay (Krista), and Tripp Spear (Amy); and eight great-grandchildren, Kristin Lindstrom (Zack), Alli Drummonds, Drew MacKay, Ansley Drummonds, Owen MacKay, Ella MacKay, Thomas Spear, and Eliza Spear.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. on Monday, October 30, 2017 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, AL, immediately followed by the 2 p.m. funeral at Ridout's Southern Heritage Chapel, Pelham. Drs. Daven Watkins, Mike Shaw, and Paul Moore will officiate. Later in the week, Betty will be laid to rest next to her husband at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Orlando, FL.
