

Carl Grant, 88, beloved husband of 49 years and father of four sons and grandfather of nine delightful grandchildren and great grandfather of one great granddaughter, passed away on Wednesday, November 15th. Carl was the last surviving brother of three siblings, his older sister Barbara and younger brother Jim. He was the son of Joy and Roland Grant of South Bend, Indiana.
Carl was born on September 2, 1935 in South Bend, Indiana, where he grew up and graduated from South Bend Central High School. He attended Purdue University and received a degree in Business. He was drafted and spent two years stationed in Germany with the US Army.
In November 1962, at a Young Republicans social gathering, he met the love of his life Judith Grant. They were married on August 31, 1963. Together they built a beautiful life, lived in Detroit MI, South Bend IN, Memphis TN, Yardley PA and settled in Birmingham, AL. They enjoyed traveling the country. Carl and Judy built a lovely cabin in the mountains of Colorado where they shared many summers and winters with their children, daughter-in-law’s, grandchildren and two dogs they adored.
Carl, Dad, Pops, Gramps, Uncle, Cousin, Poppa G, Friend will be missed by the entire family, friends and loved ones. His legacy of determination, laughter and hospitality will live on forever. He was a dad to many and loved by his wife Judith, four sons, Mike, Pat, Jeff and Jerry and his Brother, Sister and many cousins.
Carl is survived by: Michael Evans Grant married to Caroline Alford Grant, who are parents of Gillen Patrick Grant married to Hailey, Emily Grant Gustin married to Carter, Mary Catherine Grant, Julia Evans Grant, Carl Patrick Grant married to Melissa Donald Grant who are parents of Jennifer Bennett Grant and Jefferson Patrick Grant, Jeffrey Alan Grant, Gerald Lee Grant married to Melanie Gooden Grant, who are parents of Barrett Evans Grant, Benjamin Everett Grant and Jud Elliott Grant.
Visitation is Tuesday November 21 at 10AM, followed by a memorial service at 11AM and Lunch 12PM – at Oak Mountain Presbyterian Church.
