

LOVELADY, CAROL KING, 91, of Hoover, Alabama, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2011. Carol was born and raised in Lawley, Alabama, but spent most of her married life in Centreville, Alabama. She graduated from Perry County High School, received her B.A. from Tusculum College in Tennessee, and earned her M.S. and Ed.S. from the University of Alabama. She taught English at Perry County High School and later at Brent Elementary School and Bibb County Junior High School, initiating the first special education program in Bibb County. After the death of her husband James Edward Lovelady, Carol and their two children moved to Montgomery, Alabama, where she was a special education consultant with the State Dept. of Education. Later, she taught special education courses at Troy State University, and was active in many educational, honor, and social organizations. Carol retired from Troy in 1981 and moved to Birmingham, Alabama. In addition to her husband, Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lovella Crowe King, and one sister and brother-in-law, Jimmie and Roscoe Dailey. Survivors include Carol's daughters, Charlotte West and Sharon Boatright (Donald); two grandchildren, Ashley Kizzire (Brent) and Hilary Perry (Paul); great-grandchildren, Lily Carol, McCager Edward and Ann Catherine Kizzire, and a Perry great-granddaughter on the way; sister, Adina McGee (Allen); brother, Charles O. King; and several nieces and nephews. The family will greet friends one hour before the 11 a.m. chapel service Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Rev.
