October 12, 1929November 19, 2020

CAROLYN ANN ENDSLEY CASHION left this world to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at age 91. She was born on October 12, 1929 to Oliver Houston Endsley, Sr. and Lucile Ruth Moon Endsley. She attended the Fairfield, Alabama Schools from kindergarten through high school, graduating in May, 1947, and later belonged to the Fairfield High School Alumni Association. She obeyed the Gospel, becoming a Christian June 18, 1952, and was a faithful and active member of the Church of Christ, most recently the Helena congregation. After graduating from high school, she married Carlos Eugene (Gene) Cashion, Sr., and they celebrated over 53 years together until death separated them. Over the years she did office work for their business, Western Steel Fabricators, Inc., and other businesses. She retired from Roche Biomedical Laboratories (now LAB CORP of AMERICA) after 17 years of service where she worked in Human Resources handling employee benefits. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband; daughter, Deborah (Debbie) Lynn Cashion; son, Carlos (Carl) Eugene Cashion, Jr.; brother, Houston Endsley, Jr.; sister, Gloria Edmonson; grandsons, Billy Wayne Cashion and Tim Cashion. Mrs. Cashion is survived by her son, Alan Blake Cashion (Pat); grandchildren, Jack Cashion (Georgia) and Michelle Schlehmeier (Chris); great grandsons, Lee Parsons (Ana) and Hunter Schlehmeier; great granddaughters, Meri Cashion and Kelsi Schlehmeier; great-great grandson, Archer Cashion; along with several nieces and nephews, and many friends. Her hobbies included scrapbooking, puzzles, word finds, Gospel music, music of the 1940’s and 1950’s, and playing cards (with the exception of “Bridge.”) She was a BIG Alabama football fan. ROLL TIDE! She also enjoyed traveling. Before her husband died, they went on a Caribbean cruise, a trip to Lebanon and Iran plus 12 European countries, and many states in the U.S. After her husband’s death, she went on many group trips and several cruises with her children. Her most memorable trips were to Jerusalem and a train trip through the Canadian Rockies. Although she endured more than her share of life’s trials and tribulations, she was an optimistic, generous woman who was a true friend to innumerable people who will remember her with thankfulness for the joy she brought into their lives. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 pm with Brother Ken Craig performing the eulogy. Also officiating is Brother Joe Hickman. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Mrs. Cashion’s favorite charity, via phone (1-800-805-5856) or mail (501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105) or online (stjude.org).
