Carolyn Rice Majors Pate, a resident of Hoover, Alabama for over 33 years, passed away at her home on Thursday evening, October 24, 2019. She was born and raised in West Blocton, Alabama on October 30, 1934.
Carolyn was married to Bob Majors for 28 years. They had two sons, Joey and Jeff. They moved to Birmingham, Alabama in 1960 and joined Fairview Baptist Church where Carolyn taught youth for over 10 years and then taught Young Married Sunday School for 16 years.
After Bob's passing in 1982, Carolyn was married to Tom Pate for 18 years until his passing. While married to Tom, they moved to Hoover and joined Shades Mountain Baptist Church. She retired from Southern Life Insurance Company after 30 years and later retired from Parisian & Belk after 17 years.
Carolyn was a member of The Club and an avid fan of Alabama football. She was predeceased by her parents, Johnie and Nannie Rice; a brother, Bill Rice; husband, Bob Majors; and later husband, Tom Pate.
Survivors include two sons, Joey (Patti) and Jeff (Lynn); two grandchildren, Pate Majors and Morgan Majors Ellett (C.J.); sister, Peggy Crocker; sister-in-law, Eva Rice; brother-in-law, Jadie Majors; step-family, Amanda Reed (Jon), Rusti Johnson (George), Cassie Pate, and Jerry (Dena) Pate; great-grandchildren, Judd Johnson and Gradie Johnson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, October 28, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, AL, followed at 1 p.m. by A Celebration of Carolyn's Life at the funeral home's chapel. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham.
In lieu of flowers, memorials gifts may be made to Shades Mountain Baptist Church or West Blocton Baptist Church.
