Charles Carter Anderson Jr.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was born on May 27, 1944, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to the late Charles Anderson Sr. and Phillis Zumo Anderson.

Charles received his formal education at Istroma High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and went on to further his studies at Louisiana State University. He was a proud member of the Bocage Racquet Club for over twenty years and the Ballantrae Golf Club for eight years. He was attending Westwood Baptist Church. In his leisure time, Charles enjoyed golf, horse racing, tennis, LSU sports, bowling, and visiting the casino. He was always ready for his next adventure and treasured moments spent with family and friends.

On November 24, 1989, Charles married Janet Pourciau. They were happily married for 33 years and together were blessed to have shared three children. He served his country with pride in the United States Army and later built a successful career with Exxon, dedicating 31 years as an Electrical Inspector, Purchasing Agent, and Product Scheduler.

Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janet Pourciau Anderson; three sisters, Rosalie Altazin, Ruth Anderson, and Barbara Ourso; and his parents, Charles C. Anderson Sr. and Phillis Zumo Anderson.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Darren J. Anderson; two daughters, Terri L. Blair (Nape) and Cindy B. Thornton (Dustin); nine grandchildren, Jade, Lexi, Tabitha (Stephen), Timothy, Travis (Meghan), Jerian, Justin (Heather), Jordan (Kaytlyn), and Brooke; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Charles also leaves behind uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many wonderful friends.

Charles never met a stranger, was so considerate and had the sweetest soul.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 13, at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 10:00 a.m. at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, Alabama.

Charles’s wishes were to be cremated. We kindly request no standing floral arrangements; vases and plants are welcome.
