

Charles Henry Davidson, age 93, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on February 9, 2023, in Birmingham, Alabama. He was born January 13, 1930 to Elizabeth and Henry Davidson in Decatur, Alabama.
Charles graduated from Riverside High School and studied drafting at Decatur trade school. After marrying his wife of almost 70 years, Elizabeth Thrasher Davidson, he went to school at night while working and graduated from the University of Alabama at Huntsville.
During his career, Charles worked for Morton Thiokol, Redstone Arsenal, and Brown Engineering. He later retired from Rust Engineering after 28 years of service. In his younger years, he had his own TV show on WMSL in Decatur where he sang popular songs and hymns. He became a Christian when he was 11 years old and was baptized at Central Baptist Church in Decatur.
While living in Alabaster, Alabama, Charles and Elizabeth were members of First Baptist Church of Alabaster and later Elliotsville Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he sang in the choir. After moving to Meadow Brook, Alabama, he and Elizabeth joined Meadow Brook Baptist Church where they were members for over 20 years and enjoyed singing in the choir and the Sonshine Singers.
Charles was a devoted Auburn fan, holding season tickets for over 40 years. He was also an avid fisherman, enjoyed vacationing in the mountains with his family and, on occasion (many), liked to smoke a good cigar while working puzzles.
Charles' survivors include his son, James Rodney Davidson; daughter, Celisa Davidson Owens (John); daughter-in-law, Denise F. Davidson; grandchildren, Joshua Michael Davidson (Brittany), Leticia Marie Davidson, Hannah D. Carroll (Patrick), Carter Allan Owens, Clayton Adam Owens, and Clinton Charles Owens; and great-grandchildren, Eden and Aaliyah Davidson, and Alayna and Ian Wiggins.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 69 years, Elizabeth Thrasher Davidson; and his son, Charles Michael Davidson.
There will be a private service for family at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham, Alabama. Everyone is invited to A Celebration of Life service at Meadow Brook Baptist Church on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the SonShine Singers of Meadow Brook Baptist Church, 4984 Meadow Brook Road, Birmingham, AL 35242.
