Charles David HEDRICK

Charles David Hedrick, Charlie, of Birmingham AL, passed away on July 5, 2018 at the age of 76. He is survived by his spouse of almost 53 years, Evelyn, his two sons Charles Patrick Hedrick (Sharon) of Frisco, TX and Robert Aiden Hedrick (Miranda) of Birmingham, AL, daughter Deborah Mary Lancaster (Alan) of Birmingham, AL, grandsons Charlie Hedrick and Kyle Lancaster (Shannon), granddaughters Anna Lancaster, Kaitlyn Hedrick, Allie Hedrick and Laurie Lancaster, great granddaughters Norah and Clara Lancaster, his brother Robert Hedrick (Diane) of Randolph, MA, sister in law Carole Hedrick of South Easton, MA and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his Parents Carl and Winifred Hedrick and brother, Thomas Hedrick. Born July 3, 1942 in Boston, MA he grew up in Randolph, MA. A graduate of Randolph High School, he attended Lowell College, Berklee School of Music and graduated with a degree from Leland Powers School. He was a singer and guitar player for the Mike Landers Quartet, the house band at the Fireman's Post in Boston and worked for MA Bell prior to moving to Alabaster, AL. After moving south, he worked for South Central Bell, then AT&T. A believer in service, he was a long time member of the Alabaster Jaycees, cantor for St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Montevallo, AL and member of the Knights of Columbus council 9550, rising to the rank of AL State Deputy from '94-'96. He was also a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Birmingham, AL. He enjoyed fishing, music, Alabama and New England Patriots football, Boston Red Sox baseball, visiting with family, sharing stories, playing guitar and singing at family functions. In general, he just enjoyed life! Visitation will be at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, Birmingham, AL on Wednesday, July 18th from 10:00 until 11:30 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Our thoughts and prayers for the Hedrick family during the celebration of Charlie’s life. I worked with Charlie at BellSouth and also went to OLV church for many years. What a great friend with a super awesome personality!!! He brought so much joy and happiness to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. For sure he will be missed by so many.
