

Cheryl graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Montgomery and received her undergraduate degree from Auburn University. She was married to Ben Bryan Hitch, Jr., on August 4, 1973.
Cheryl started her professional career as a Home Economist for Alabama Power. She then became a Home Economics teacher for Montgomery Public Schools. After her retirement from teaching, she began a successful real estate career, working for several Montgomery-based real estate agencies.
In her leisure, Cheryl enjoyed home decorating, gardening, sewing, and helping others.
Cheryl is survived by her husband, Ben "Benny" Bryan Hitch, Jr.; her son, Ben Bryan Hitch, III (Jamie Ruth Hitch); her grandchildren, Ben Bryan Hitch, IV, and Bowen Wilson Hitch; and one brother, Joe Barefield Wilson.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her daughter, Dr. Meredith Cheryl Hitch; brothers, John C. Wilson, Jr., and Charles J. Wilson; and sister, Jeanette Dreher.
The Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 5487 Stadium Trace Parkway, Hoover, AL 35244.
