CARTER, CLARENCE "BULL," age 84, retired Police Chief of Alabaster, AL, passed away Thursday night, February 28, 2013. Visitation will be Sunday, March 3, 2013 from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral service in the chapel of Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, AL. "Bull" will be laid to rest at Still Cemetery (Elliottsville) in Alabaster. A U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, he was a member of Shelby County Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) and former chairman of the Shelby Baptist Medical Center Board of Directors. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to many. Bull was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Carter; parents, brothers, and sisters. Survivors include Bull's daughters, Peggy C. Dunaway and Debbie Carter; son, Gary E. Carter; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Carter; six grandchildren, Tracy Walton, Shawn Peeples, Brody Scott, Clint Carter, Michelle McGraw, and Rachael Whitner; many great-grandchildren; sister, Patricia Parker Palmer; and brothers, Buddy Carter and Jimmy Parker. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the American Heart Association or Shelby County FOP.
