Connie Mae Baugher

Connie Mae Baugher, 89, of Montevallo, Alabama, was called home to Heaven on July 9, 2026. She was born July 9, 1937 in Colbert County, Alabama to the late John Dalton Spires, Sr., and Susie Mae Pate Spires.

She was married to William (Bill) Baugher on July 11,1954 in Iuka, Mississippi. She was a devoted wife and mother. They were blessed with two daughters.

Her personal relationship with Jesus Christ was very evident in her life. She made sure to teach her children and grandchildren about Jesus Christ. Her favorite pastimes were reading, baking cookies and cakes, and spending time with her family.

Connie was a member of Dogwood Grove Baptist Church in Montevallo, Alabama, where she was involved in many activities including working with children. She helped her husband, Bill, lead a weekly Bible study for many years.

She held many positions in the shoe manufacturing industry. She went on to be a bookkeeper for a business owned by she and her husband. In her later years, she became a much sought after nanny for several families. She loved her nanny children dearly.

Connie was preceded in death by John Dalton Spires, Sr. (father), Susie Mae Pate Spires (mother), Billy James Spires (brother), Jimmy Neal Spires (brother), and John Dalton Spires, Jr, (brother).

Survivors include her husband, William (Bill) Baugher, their children, Beverly (Jeanne) Baugher Rhoads (Bill) and Vicki Baugher Pounders (Chris), grandchildren Kimberly Lynn Moody (Josh), Jessica Pounders Henry (George) and Regina Diane Bright and ten great-grandchildren. Also, surviving are her brother Hubert Ray Spires and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 10:30 AM followed by a celebration of life service at 11:30 AM, officiated by Reverend Todd Burr. Burial will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens, Calera, Alabama.
