Cynthia H Holmes

Cynthia H. Holmes, age 81, of Hoover, Alabama passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025. Cynthia was born in Birmingham, Alabama on December 18, 1943. She graduated from Banks High School and received a Business Degree from Business College in Birmingham, Alabama. On June 22, 1962, she married Gene Holmes.

During her lifetime, Cynthia had a successful career as an office manager for Hillcrest Hospital and Brookwood Outpatient Psychiatric Services. She was a member of Hunter Street Baptist Church and a former member of South Roebuck Baptist Church. She was an active member of the PTA at the schools where her children attended, even serving as President. In her later years, she also became a member of The Red Hat Society. Cynthia was devoted to her family. She was a loving mother and Nanny and always put her family first.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Eugene Holmes, her parents, Marcus Earl and Sadie Grey Howell, and great-grandson, Zachary James Redmond.

Cynthia is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Redmond (Wesley) and Melony Brasher (John), her grandchildren, Tyler Redmond (Megan), Rachel Redmond (Will), Sarah Redmond, Brandon Brasher (Madison), and Justin Brasher (Jadyn), great-grandchildren, Colton Redmond, Mae Rose Redmond, Charlotte Neblett, Harper Brasher, Cooper Brasher, Stafford Neblett, and Adelynn Nesbit.

A visitation for Cynthia will be held Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124. A service will follow at 2:00 PM. A committal service will be at Elmwood Cemetery, in Birmingham, AL following the service at Southern Heritage.
