Dale was born in Birmingham, AL on September 10, 1953. She graduated from Woodlawn High School and attended the University of Montevallo. She married the love of her life, Darell Lucas, on August 19, 1972.
Dale was a highly active person and loved the outdoors. She was a high school cheerleader, piano player, enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and rafting, and loved her happy place - the beach.
She began suffering from rheumatoid arthritis at the age of 17 and dealt with it for the rest of her life, but she refused to be a victim and would not give in to it. Later, she contracted a rare medical condition that left her with open wounds on her feet and ankles without ceasing for approximately the last 15 years. She maintained a positive spirit and felt that her life was blessed, calling her condition “a little inconvenience.” Dale was a physically beautiful lady, but her spirit was even more beautiful, always full of love and kindness. Her beautiful smile, even in the presence of pain and suffering, was the hallmark of which everyone took note.
After briefly working at an accounting firm, she devoted her life to homemaking. Dale loved her family so much. They meant everything to her. She felt so blessed to be a mother, mother-in-law and grandmother (Gran). She was a very loving and supportive wife to her husband. She was the sweetest person her husband ever knew and will be sorely missed.
Dale loved her Lord. One of her personal notes recently located said, “I used to think I needed just the obvious physical healing of my body, but God had something more in mind for me. I truly believe he has slowed me down to open my eyes in knowledge of what is really important in this earthly life.” Dale’s manner of living has been and will continue to be a blessing to many for years to come.
She is preceded in death by her father, Everett Sharp, and her mother, Clevadell "Phil" Sharp.
She is survived by her husband, Darell Lucas, her son, Matt Lucas (Christi), her grandchildren, James Lucas and Avery Lucas.
A visitation will be held in Dale's honor on December 19, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at The Church at Liberty Park with a service following at 11:00 am.
