

Dan L. Howard, age 91, of Montevallo, AL, passed away on August 2, 2026. He was born to Robert and Jewel Howard on November 4, 1934, in Birmingham, AL. Dan was a graduate of Hueytown High School. Dan went on to work in a multitude of different professions; he was a police officer for 5 years, vice president of an insurance company, and he pastored a church in Calera for 5 years. He was on the bank board of Merchants and Planters Bank for 30 years; he also was on the Board of Trustees for South Eastern Bible College; he served on the board of Gannetts Ministries; was a founding member of Bible Baptist Church in Wilton, AL, and served faithfully for 45 years as an elder and Sunday school teacher. He then went on to start his own business, Dan Howard Construction, where he built a reputation for hard work and integrity. On November 13, 1953, he married the love of his life, Patricia Gizelar, and spent 72 wonderful years together.
He was a faithful member of The Branch Church in Alabaster, where his faith was an important part of his life. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing golf. Whether spending time outdoors or on the golf course with family and friends. He enjoyed the simple moments in life and the relationships he built along the way.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Jewel Howard, and grandson, Dave Minshew. He leaves behind his loving wife, Patricia; daughter, Donna Gordon (Luke); and great-grandson, Landon S. Minshew.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to The Branch Church in Alabaster in Dan's memory.
