Darlene Elenor Newcombe Chandler, 63, of Hoover, Alabama peacefully passed away Thursday, February 20, 2020. She was welcomed into heaven by her father Harold as well as her grandmother and confidant Eleanor.
Darlene was born in Ridgewood, New Jersey on April 12, 1956. She graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with her Bachelor's degree in Finance. She was a member and officer of the Kappa chapter of Alpha Xi Delta sorority at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She received her Master's degree in business administration from Loyola University Chicago.
Darlene was married to her soul mate, Alan Chandler, on August 23, 1986 at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Barrington Illinois. She had a successful career in banking for Harris Bank, Fleet Bank, AmSouth Bank, and as a Senior VP at Regions Bank.
Darlene was a strong woman, loving wife, mother, and Nana who was passionate about her life, including her family and their interests. Throughout her life, she had many interests including photography, cross-stitch, golf, skiing, biking, sailing, reading, music, art, and family history and genealogy.
Darlene is survived by her loving mother Elaine; husband Alan; son Keith, his wife Anna, and their daughter Ellison; her son Kevin and fiancé Brandon; and her brother Blaine.
A memorial gathering will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2020 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124.
