David was born in Mount Holly, New Jersey in 1963 to Frank and Joan Clarke. He began his childhood in Florida, but ultimately grew up in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in business.
Shortly after college, David met his wife Ann, and they married in November 1991. They welcomed their daughter Emmaline in July 1996 and their son Robert in October 2001.
Throughout his life, David worked for several companies in the banking industry and volunteered for Young Life Ministries, Campus Outreach, and his children’s sports teams. He was known by friends and family as an intelligent man of strong faith, a music lover and talented musician, an author, and a devoted Alabama Crimson Tide fan.
David is survived by his wife, Ann; his children, Emmaline (Brady) and Robert; as well as his sister, Lisa Rickey; brother, Steven Clarke (Susan); and many other extended family members. Preceding him in death were his parents, Frank and Joan Clarke, and grandparents, Ray and Tillie Lovendusky and George and Maude Clarke.
The funeral service will be held at the chapel of Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, Alabama on Friday, November 6, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. The family will be accepting visitors after the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to The Church at Liberty Park’s Pathways program at 12001 Liberty Parkway, Vestavia Hills, AL 35242. This is the respite program that David attended while still living at home, and the family is thankful for their care and support.
