David Joseph Dern, passed away February 27th, 2016 at the age of 62. He is preceded in death by his son, Jason Matthew Dern; mother, Joan Vento; sister, Patricia Dern. David is survived by his wife, Vickie Dern; Robert Dern (Amy) and Eric Dern; grandchildren, Paton Roden, Reese Dern, Lynlie Dern, Dylan Dern; sister, JoAnn Dern.
Dave joined the U.S. Navy following high school. He was stationed outside Memphis, Tn where he met his wife, Vickie. Dave coached youth football and baseball for over 20 years in Pensacola and Birmingham. After leaving BellSouth, he opened a photography studio specializing in weddings, children and families. He had several portraits published and won numerous awards in local and national professional photographers associations, before retiring after 20 years.
There will be a celebration of David’s life at Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Tuesday the 1st of March at 11am with visitation starting at 9am.
