Deborah "Debbie" Basenberg Sanders

Deborah “Debbie” Basenberg Sanders, age 74, of Alabaster, Alabama, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025. She was born in Hanceville, Alabama, to the late Harrell Basenberg and Louise Johnson Basenberg.

Debbie graduated from Hanceville High School and continued her studies at the Ida V. Moffett School of Nursing, becoming a registered nurse in 1971. In 1972, she married the love of her life, Terry Sanders of Bessemer, Alabama. A devoted member of Helena United Methodist Church, Debbie supported the ministries of the church and lived her faith daily through service, kindness, and compassion.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harrell and Louise Basenberg; her sister, Sandra Doty; and her husband, Terry Floyd Sanders.

Debbie is survived by her sister Donna Laney (Tim), sons, Shane Sanders (Shannon) and Wade Sanders (Jodi); and her grandchildren, Kendall, Harper, Rowan, and Eliza. She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who cherished her deeply.

The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude for the prayers, love, and support shown during this time.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 13, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm with a service to follow in the Chapel at Southern Heritage Funeral Home. The family will conclude with a private graveside.
