Dix Thomas Francis Salmon, age 83, of Birmingham, AL passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic during the Korean War, and later graduated with his bachelor degree from LSU. Mr. Salmon was employed with Ethel Corporation for many years. He was a member of Homewood Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Survivors include Mr. Salmon's wife of nearly 40 years, the former Dianne Desselle; daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Salmon Jacks and the Rev. Matthew Derek Jacks; three grandchildren, Ava Jacks, Braden Bennett Jacks, and Christopher Drew Jacks; sister-in-law, Dale Bennett Desselle and his wife Carole; and sister-in-law, Kay Lockwood. Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, AL, with the graveside funeral service immediately following in Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham. Rev. Matthew Derek Jacks will officiate. The memorial service will be at 12 noon Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Homewood Cumberland Presbyterian Church, with a luncheon for everyone immediately following in the church's fellowship hall.
