Donna Moman Yawn Hay lived a full life from August 19, 1949 until August 13, 2024. Born early in California to Edward and Lynn Moman, she kept her parents on their toes from day one. With her mischievous spirit as a teen, she was known to prank her older sister by borrowing her car while she was at work and returning it to a different spot.
Upon moving to Alabama as a teen, Donna kept her Californian accent in a Southern world, where she built her life as an artist, model, and devoted mom to Courtney. She became the first female car salesperson in Birmingham at Hoover Toyota, then married the love of her life, “Honey Hubby” Joe Hay.
Donna helped build Joe's business and then became an antique dealer who put her unique spin on decorating. Her favorite title was Nana to her grandchildren Taylor, Emily, and Christian. As she retired, she loved spending time traveling and being with family. Through the last two years, she did not let cancer define her life; she fought until the end with the resolve and grit she exemplified throughout her life.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Lynn Moman; husband, Joe Hay; sister, Fran Sharp; and brother, Ron Moman. She is survived by her daughter, Courtney (Scott) Stephens; grandchildren, Taylor Hay, Emily Hay, and Christian Stephens; brother, Rick (Dale) Moman; sister, Moya Layne; and many spectacular nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Allen Yeilding and his team at HOAA and ACG Hospice for their support and friendship. In place of flowers, the family requests donations made to support Ady’s BiG Army, changing the way the world views people with disabilities.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 25, 2024 from 3-5 p.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124.
