Doris Jean Sapp Young

YOUNG, DORIS SAPP, 81, of Bessemer, Alabama, went to be with her Lord on Sunday morning, September 25, 2011. Doris was born in East Chicago, Indiana on March 12, 1930 and was preceded in death by her mother and father, Blanche and Earl Sapp. Doris married her love, John Young, back in East Chicago on September 1, 1952, and they were happily married for 59 years. After Doris and John moved to Missouri, she graduated from Missouri University and worked as a schoolteacher until becoming a full-time mom. Left to cherish her memory are Doris's husband, John; two daughters, Kim Canfield (Casey) and Amy Robertson (Danny); one son, Larry Young (Teri); and three cherished grandchildren, Logan & Haley Young, and Abbigail Robertson. Doris was a long-time member of Helena Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a long-time volunteer with Save-A-Life of Shelby County. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Helena Cumberland Presbyterian Church, followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. in the church's sanctuary. Rev. Tommy Johnson, officiating. Burial, Helena City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Save-A-Life Shelby County or to Helena Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
