Dorothy, a Birmingham, Alabama resident at the time of her death, passed away at age 81. She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and lived in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, for about 30 years. She graduated from Hattiesburg High School and attended college at Ole Miss, where she was in the Tri Delta Sorority.
Dorothy was a dedicated housewife and mother who loved to sew, play Bridge, travel, and play her piano.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Edd Agnew, formerly of the Baldwyn, Mississippi area; mother, Annette Limerick Beck Weems; father, Albert Hand Weems; and one brother, Albert Hand Weems, Jr. Survivors include Dorothy's daughter, Mary Agnew Brackin (Kenneth) of Birmingham; son, John Edd Agnew, Jr. of Baldwyn; and two grandchildren, Whitney Beck Bernreuter (Jon) and John Warren Brackin.
Visitation will be one hour before the 11 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, AL. On Thursday, January 2, 2014, the family will visit with friends from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at Waters Funeral Home in Baldwyn, Mississippi. Burial will be in Pratt Community Cemetery, Baldwyn.
