Dorothy Evelyn Haynes

Dorothy Evelyn Haynes of Hoover, Alabama, passed away on November 27, 2019, at the age of 87. She was born in Woodbury, Tennessee, to the late Marshall and Hidee Merritt Mears. Dorothy is also preceded in death by her husband, Henry B. Haynes; her granddaughter, Leah Rae Maddox; and her two brothers, Perry Mears and Jerry Mears. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Teresa (Richard) Maddox; son, Jeff (Pam) Haynes; three grandchildren, Kenny (Amber) Maddox; Amanda (Yaumel) Martinez; and William Haynes; along with three great-grandchildren, Audrey Maddox; A.J. Maddox; and Alina Martinez. Her sister, Lucille Williams, also survives her. Dorothy was a member of Harbor City Baptist Church in Melbourne, FL, and on top of being a homemaker, she worked as a hairdresser. She enjoyed reading, quilting, and painting ceramics; several members of her family are blessed to have many of her creations today. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Sunday, December 1, 2019, from 1:00-2:00 pm, with a funeral service beginning at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Southern Heritage Cemetery.
