Dorothy M McCain

Dorothy Louise Martin McCain (Dottye), age 86, of Guntersville, AL passed away on March 29, 2024. She was born on October 30, 1937 in Atlanta, GA. Dottye graduated from Coffee High School and went on to receive a degree in Chemistry from Florence State College. On November 22, 1969 she married Joseph Daniel McCain. She worked as a Chemist for Dupont and Southern Research Institute and was a member of Audubon Society and Sierra Club. Dottye had a passion for stock market-trading, coin collecting, sewing, playing the piano, and playing bridge with her friends. She is preceded in death by parents, Albert and Louise Martin; her husband of 51 years, Joe Daniel McCain; brother, Albert Martin Jr. She is survived by her children, Brinnon Searcy (Kimberly), Dana Searcy Brown, and Joseph McCain; grandchildren, Andrew Brooks (Rebecca), Taylor Brown, Ryan Searcy (Madalyn), Renee Miser (Cody) Joshua Moncrief (Tara), Sherri Peppers (Jason), Casey Clark (Tabitha), and brother, Jack Martin; 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, Lynda, Elaine, Monique, Jay, Joy and Jill.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 5, 2024 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a chapel service to follow at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham.
