"Doug," a 1971 graduate of Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama, was self-employed for several years in carpentry. He was known to many as a "gentle giant. He was large in physical stature, but tenderhearted and always honest.
Doug was predeceased by one brother, Mickey Ellison. Survivors include parents, Wayne M. and Lucile Ellison; to sisters, Beverly Swanger (Terry) and Paula Ellison; nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama. The graveside service will be the same day at 1:30 p.m. at Pelham City Cemetery.
